Ohio Congressman Sued for Defamation Over Highway Encounter—Bloomberg Law News

Dr. Feras Hamdan sued US Rep. Max Miller (R) on the same day Hamdan pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and willful or wanton disregard of safety on highways for the June 2025 incident. He received a suspended jail sentence and was put on probation for a year.

But Hamdan, in the lawsuit filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, said the “dramatically reduced charges” don’t hold him responsible for Miller’s “stereotypically Islamophobic accusations,” which he made on X, formerly known as Twitter, and to authorities. . . .

Data pulled from Hamdan’s Tesla showed that his windows weren’t rolled down at the time and that he wasn’t swerving or trying to push Miller off the road. The doctor also hired an acoustical expert for his criminal case, who said it would’ve been impossible for Miller to hear anything Hamdan said on the highway, the lawsuit said. . . .
