Murder victim’s family sues Oriana House, says they weren’t warned after man fled Akron—Akron Beacon Journal
A Minnesota man’s family with Akron roots is suing Oriana House and other county agencies two years after 32-year-old Ryan Peterson was stabbed to death during a home invasion.
Peterson’s family said the organization didn’t do enough in 2022 to protect or alert them when a man, who had a history of stalking Peterson’s wife, Kassandra, and breaking into her parents’ home multiple times, fled from an Edgerton Group Home, a community support services facility.
Represented by Peter Pattakos, the family said they didn’t know 33-year-old Franklin White had fled until he allegedly battered down Peterson’s door in Minneapolis and killed him in front of his wife. . . .
“Despite the clear danger that Franklin posed to Kassie and her family, as the break-ins and the violation of the no-contact order and obvious deterioration of Franklin’s psychotic mental state independent made clear, not a single one of the defendants … provided them any warning that Franklin was unmonitored, unrestricted and on the run,” the lawsuit states.
